6 families displaced in apartment complex fire near South Loop, Houston Fire Department says

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Six families have been displaced after flames ripped through an apartment building near the South Loop on Wednesday afternoon, the Houston Fire Department said.

Multiple HFD units responded to the fire located at 2400 South Loop West near Kirby Drive at about 12:15 p.m.

According to HFD, one building in the complex was impacted by the fire, with half of the building being vacant. Six families have been displaced due to the damage, HFD said, adding that the Red Cross responded to the scene to assist those impacted.

HFD said no civilians were injured in the fire, but one firefighter was treated for an ankle injury.

HFD investigators did not release information on what caused the fire. Eyewitness News on the scene saw several arson investigators responding after the fire was put out.

SkyEye13 was over the scene on Wednesday afternoon, showing fire crews working to put out the blaze.
